From Heaven into the Oceans
Wireshark is the leading tool for network troubleshooting and analysis. Originally known as Ethereal – which means "celestial", the Open Source software was subsequently renamed and lived up to its new brand name: Due to its versatile use, functional elegance and ease of operation it turned out to be market leader in almost no time. Especially in protocol analysis the freeware continually proves its positive character.

Extrasensory Powers
With seven senses sharks dispose of an exceptional system for sensory reception, being role models for networkers and challenging their skills over and over again. Like sharks unerringly chase their tracks, networkers trace net problems, a technical venture requiring more than logical thought.
Systemic know-how and a good deal of experience must come along. To keep them up-to-date means lifelong learning. Whilst sharks had millions of years to adapt, networkers are forced to keep up with rapid technological change. One more reason why networkers are comparable to the "guardians of the oceans" is, that they contribute to the stability of worldwide networks and solve connectivity problems – or let them not arise in the first place.
"Sniffing Problems a Mile Away"
The shark among all software alternatives complies with the founder's slogan: "Sniffing Problems a Mile Away". It testifies to the outstanding power of Wireshark which is based on more than 900 protocol decoders.
The rapid availability of new decodes results from the joint work of more than 600 developers worldwide who continuously hold this technical status up-to-date. Their experience and their distinctive sense of potential problems make the analytical tool running among others on operating systems like Windows, Linux, OS X, Solaris, FreeBSD, NetBSD unrivaled.

Farsighted Cooperation
Visionary thinking, long-lasting market know-how and actual information increase the awareness of promising future options. Just from the beginning, Rolf Leutert considered Wireshark to be an auspicious tool prompting him to contact Gerald Combs, founder of the Open Source software personally. From this evolved a close cooperation with CACE Technologies being the supporting organization of the Open Source tool Wireshark up to 2010, when Riverbed Technology acquired the products of CACE and the sponsorship of Wireshark.
Leutert NetServices is Riverbed reseller for the Wireshark Enhancements Product family.
